3. Genie introduces the page and tells You what each button is for during the set-up process.
Build Web Pages - Your web site settings are here. This covers all the descriptive text that is displayed on your site, and also which style of template to use.
Edit Product Catalogue - This is where you update your database of products and prices and where most of the action happens.
Connect to the Internet - This section enables you to choose which sections of the site to upload. The whole site, modified pages, web site content or product information. It means that you won't be uploading unchanged material time after time. You also download and view any orders from here.
Tutorial - A tutorial to familiarize yourself with the e-commerce jargon. It also contains a brief overview.
Help - A section that will contain Help text when available.
Options - From here you control how your WebShop is set-up. Things like security, Internet connections and the passwords used for access to the software are set from here.
Exit - This will close your Starwebz WebShop program.
Build Web Pages
When you click on Build Web Pages, you are presented with a new section on the right hand side of the screen. Genie appears and describes the page and what you should do next. This consists of set of options displayed in a box. These options when clicked will take you to a series of Assistants that enable you to change all of the descriptive text. The text is displayed on your home page, news page, about us page, contact us page, product information pages, links page, and feedback page.
General Web Site Settings
When you click on General Web Site Settings, this is where you set your address, payment options presented to your customers (including credit card clearing and your merchant ID), the title used by your Web pages and even the keywords that will be picked up by search engines that index your site. Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next.
When you click on Start set-up assistant, you will be brought to a new screen, the set-up assistant will help guide you through the General Web Site Settings section. Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. It will help you to enter your company's details, to enter keywords to help your customers find you on the Internet, to select payment methods and to select a secure service provider for credit card processing. In addition, you will be able to choose whether you would like to take advantage of the shopping cart facility.
When you click on Your company information, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. You can enter your company name, company address, company logo and you can click on Add/change picture to add or delete a picture to the page.
When you click on Your web pages, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. you can choose which pages you want to include on your web site.
When you click on Shopping cart settings, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. You can setup/adjust your shopping cart settings. You also have the option of not having a shopping cart facility. You can also enter your secure service provider, as well as your merchant ID number.
When you click on Finding your web site, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. You can enter information about the title of your web site and other information such as keywords that will be used by Internet search engines and for people to help find your web site.
Home Page
When you click on Home Page, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. This is the first page that displays to your online customers and will guide them through your site.
When you click on Start set-up assistant, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. You will be brought to a new screen, the set-up assistant will help guide you through the Home Page Settings section.
Each panel displays the different text and image fields available on this page and enabling you to customize the information for your own organization.
The Home Page displays two panels of text, a picture area, plus links to the categories in your Product Catalogue and selected Special Feature items.
When you click on Page content and footer, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. This is where you put in the title of your web site. You can also insert additional information about your web site, including categories section title, special section title and you can add/change, resize or remove a picture and can add a page footer where you can enter such information as company copyright.
When you click on Section 1 and 2, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. You can insert basic advertising information about what your company can do. You are given 2 sections to insert this information.
When you click on Special items, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. Here you can add or remove Special Feature Items that are displayed on the first page of your Product Catalogue and your Home Page.
Product Catalogue Page
This page is where you enter or edit the items that will appear in your online catalogue. Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next.
When you click on Start set-up assistant, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. You will be brought to a new screen, the set-up assistant will help guide you through creating how your product catalogue will be displayed on your web site. Each panel displays the different text and image fields available on this page enabling you to customize the information for your own organization. The Product Catalogue Page displays an optional paragraph of text and items from your database grouped by category, with links to selected special feature items on the home page.
When you click on Page content and footer, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. This is where you put the title of your Product Catalogue Page and you can also insert the title of your catalogue category section title. You can also tick the Include Introduction Section to insert information about your Product Catalogue content. You can also include Product Disclaimer information or comments. In the page footer you can insert copyright information about your company.
When you click on Item display settings Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. You can select which fields should be displayed in your catalogue (such as manufacturer, supplier, stock location, delivery time, quantity and additional notes. You can choose to display the number of items you wish to display per page. You can also tick the box if you do not want to limit the number of items per page. You are also given two optional boxes that give you extra fields that you may wish to collect additional information about an order; for example, color and/ or size.
When you click Special items, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. You can add or remove Special Feature Items that are displayed on the first page of your Product Catalogue and your Home Page. The list on the left displays all items entered into your Product Catalogue. The list on the right shows Special Feature Items. You can add or remove items by selecting the item and clicking on the button to add or remove.
When you click on Ordering instructions, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. Here you can give instructions to help your customers to place an order. You can choose ordering instructions by ticking on the applicable box and entering the relevant information for ordering.
When you click on Terms and conditions, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. You can enter the "terms and conditions" in the first box in a brief summary, and in the second box you can enter the full terms and conditions with as much text as you like.
Edit Product Catalogue
When you click on Edit Product Catalogue, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. You will see a main grid where all the items in your Product Catalogue are listed as your database. You can choose all the items in the Product Catalogue, Web items only, adjust and create settings for categories and other options including taxes and shipping methods. You can also choose Supplier and Manufacturer Addressbook, where you can add or delete to the database. You can also select a desired report to be generated. When you click on New item, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. In the All items grid selection, you will see a page where you can add a new stock item or you can edit an existing item.
Connect to the Internet
When you click on Connect to the Internet, Genie will appear and describe the page and what you should do next. Your web site will be published on the Internet and will be hosted on the Starwebz servers.
Other Pages
There are several other pages with options, just click on them and Genie will appear and will guide you through them, telling you all about them and how you can use them.
